The Mudchute Sustainability Centre

A new initiative for East London’s Green Heart

Mudchute Park and Farm, set in 32 acres of peaceful countryside almost in the shadow of Canary Wharf, offers the perfect escape from city life, only 15 minutes from one of Europe’s busiest office complexes.

Adding to the existing facilities and attractions including an Education Centre, Nursery, Riding School and Restaurant, (the Mudchute Kitchen where much of the produce used is grown on the farm), the new Mudchute Sustainability Centre will open in the first week of June, to coincide with the launch of this year’s Love London Festival. The Mudchute welcomes in excess of 150,000 visitors annually.

Attracting both the local community and the business sector, the Sustainability Centre will illustrate products and services from sustainable sources, covering building materials, energy management, recycling and composting, along with practical advice on ‘greening’ the home, office and workplace.

To celebrate Love London Festival, Mudchute Park and Farm will be focussing on the environment and will be calling upon volunteers to help improve upon its fabulous green open space. Fun educational

sessions and activities will include ‘grow your own’ and cooking with natural ingredients, with plenty

of action too on the farm for all the family.

For local businesses, a day of workshop sessions on June 5th (World Environment Day) will illustrate

how practical steps in energy management, recycling and other initiatives can lead to savings in overheads and improved standards of corporate responsibility.

The Mudchute Sustainability Centre is being developed in association with environmental consultancy Market Ecology, which is the contact for companies interested in products or services support. For events at the Mudchute and other ‘what’s on’ queries, please contact the Mudchute Main Office.
